Hello Peeps! Long time no talk-hey what can I say I am a busy 4 year old boy. I go to school 3 days a week and have gymnastics one day a week, plus all the playing, helping mommy and being a good little boy (that's for you Santa, in case your reading). Not to mention that mommy and daddy are giving me a baby sister for Christmas (well after Christmas-hopefully!), so mommy and daddy (mostly mommy) have been busy with baby related things.

Anyways, since mommy has been a little slack in the blog department, I'd thought I'd sneak on here and show you my pic with Santa. Clearly this pic is not showing my best side, and I am giving mommy the stink-eye, but you'll get a chuckle I'm sure. All in all, I gave Santa my letter and we chatted a bit. He's also sent Skullclamp, the Elf that watches me to make sure I am a good boy and reports back to Santa. Skullclamp likes to keep me on my toes by hiding in a different place everyday, but I always find him. I am fairly confident that I will wake up Christmas morning to find an Imaginext T-Rex under the tree. I mean they have to give me a little leeway, right? I'm only 4. Hopefully, I won't wake up to find a baby sister under the tree, I mean I'm glad she's coming and excited to be a big brother, but she is no Imaginext T-Rex. Well, Peeps it's been real and I'll let you know how the big guy does and when my lil' sis get here! Hugs and Kisses!

Happy Almost Turkey Day!

It is almost Thanksgiving and I have so much to be thankful for!

I won't bore you with all the the stuff I am thankful for,

but there are three people that top that list.

My amazing hubby of almost 13 years,

my beautiful, silly, smart, energetic amazing little boy

and the sweet little girl that will be born soon.

Here are some pages I have done recently, and yes I have more P52 pages coming,

I was working on some just today! Just need my editor to proof, then you can see!

Not sure if I ever posted the original pages I made with these pics. I never really liked them, so I made a new page with

them using the November Ginger Scraps Daily Download by Colie Corner called Thankful for Family.

I made this page for the Twisted Pixels challenge at Gotta Pixels using Camping Adventures by Crisdam Designs.

I used the Star Power kit and a matching Star Power Template both by Connie Prince for this silly page!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well we have been super busy here at Casa de O'Brien.

Xander with school, Chris with work and me with prepping old baby stuff for consignment sales (Xander's old fall/winter clothes up through 18 months and some old toys)

and getting stuff ready for kiddo #2, which has included moving the spare bedroom to the

computer room, and painting what will be her room.

As well as prepping baby clothes, and going through our totes of baby supplies

to see what we need to replace/restock before the baby comes.

Not too mention we've had a lot of family fun activities planned on the weekends.

As a result my time to scrap/post to the blog has been eaten up.

Whew I am tired just talking about it :)

So, I am posting some pages real quick before we head off to gymnastics, voting and the grocery store.

Last but not least, Xander has been learning to write his letters and numbers and can now write his name very well without help.

I decided to try to let him write his very first letter to Santa and he did such a good job.

He is asking Santa for an Imaginext T-Rex dinosaur, the letter is a little hard to read, in the picture :)

The Big Guy kit by Connie Prince (part of a huge $5 grab bag) worked perfectly for this page.

Last weekend was our 4th annual trip to Dewberry Farm.

It was by far our best trip, as the weather was gorgeous (not too hot),

also we (and by we, I mean Chris and Xander) were able to do a lot more of the activities.

We also got to hang out with some of our friends, and enjoy the day with them too!

Here are some pages I did recently for a couple of the designers I CT for, as well as a challenge at Gotta Pixel. I have to admit, I have been less than motivated lately to work on scrapbook pages. Partly due to the fact that it has been a 100+ degrees almost every single day here, partly because kiddo one doesn't nap anymore and partly because of the pregnancy! Now that the kiddo is back in school, maybe I can be a little more productive. I REALLY need to get busy on his baby pages before kiddo number two gets here!

Last Day of School 2010-2011

Today is Xander's last day of school. I think he would have benefited staying in over the summer (they have TONS of fun activities planned-kind of like a summer day camp), but as we are going to be gone for a few weeks on vacation this summer, it really wasn't cost effective to do so. So we kept him one week past the school district's last day of school (he started one week late, due to us being in Minnesota and we wanted him to be able to celebrate his birthday with his school friends). I don't think he quite understands that he won't be able to see his school friends until next school year, but we'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.

What a change!

As it was his last day of school, I wanted to do something special for Xander's teachers.

One of the blog's I read regularly, Eighteen25 shared an idea that they found here.

Well I loved it and here is my version. I hope the teachers like it too.

Basically I found two good size Anchor Hocking glass containers with screw on lids at Hobby Lobby and used a freebie "Teacher Appreciation" digital kit I got from Gotta Pixel to make the inside pieces

and the attached tag. This is what I wrote up and what is on the tag attached to the jar.

I also added Xander's picture to the tag, in hopes that they will keep it.

I SKORed EXTRA big when I got you for a teacher.
Don’t SNICKER, but you are MOUNDS of fun
and you have brought such JOY to our class.
I am going to TAKE 5 for a FAST BREAK
to tell you how BEARY much I appreciated
all the GOOD fun and WHAT you did for me
this school year. You have led the WAY for me
to be such a SMARTIE. I am BURSTing with
knowledge and it is because you helped me put
the PIECES together this year. I wish I could
TARGET today as a PAYDAY, because your
worth at least 100 GRAND to me.

4 Years Ago Today...

I became a mom.

Today we had Xander's 4th birthday party.

After the near heatstroke and dehydration of last years backyard birthday party,

and our vow to NEVER have an outdoor birthday party in June again,

we had Xander's party at Jumpin' Jacks.

Jumpin' Jacks is a big party place with lots of inflatables and a party room.

It was so much cooler (it is supposed to be 100 degrees today).

Xander and his friends had a great time.

Chris and I didn't have to do a darn thing!

I re-did my blog header today and I must say, I am quite pleased with how it turned out!

I made everything myself using some digital scrapbooking "Commercial Use" tools.

Bet you thought I had given up on the whole P52 project? Nope, just had a lot of other pages that were priority and I had to wait for my "editor" to review. So finally, here they are, weeks 5 and 6. Blog header update!

So I have been playing around with making my own papers and elements. I am nowhere near designing and selling kits by any means, but I like playing around with it. I made the clover paper and the clover element myself. I used a commercial use overlay and and a commercial use template for the the other paper and glitter swirl, respectively. "Commercial Use" products are tools that are made by designers for others to use, either in personal use (as in my case for this blog header) or for sale (eventually I'd like to make and sell my own kits!). The title was made using the Kraft Alpha by Etc. by Danyale, which I got by completing a challenge at Gotta Pixel in January. I like how it turned out and hopefully I'll be able to keep changing it up every month.

My Boy My Joy

Hard to believe that my kiddo will be four in just a few short months.

He really is such a joy in our lives and it amazes me to see the little person he is becoming.

I took these pictures a few days ago and the little ham seems to like to pose now when I pull out the camera.

So I am super excited about this page.

Not only because I just love the pic, but I also love how it turned out.

Unfortunately, I cannot take all the credit.

No, I used the new and fabulous Carefree kit and matching alpha by Crisdam Designs,

available at Gotta Pixel.

I also scraplifted the design idea from Jen Jockisch.

Her original layout is featured on page 81 of the March/April 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes.

But nonetheless, I love it and I hope you do too!

We took the kiddo to see his very first concert on the 12th. Imagination Movers--In a Big Warehouse Tour. He enjoyed it a lot, as did we! One of my CT designer's Colie's Corner just happened to do a collaboration kit with Sherry Ferguson Designs and the Retro Rock kit worked perfectly for my page about the concert.

Well we were supposed to get some snow last night.

I was a little excited, because it meant that the kiddo could play in it

and then by tomorrow it would be gone.

Did we get any?

No, all we got was freezing rain.

Epic fail Mother Nature, epic fail.

Well despite the lack of snow and a couple of hours without power,

we've managed to have fun playing inside!

What up Peeps! Some of my favorite people are experiencing a snow day today. We are not. I wish it would snow, so I can have fun again like I did last year. Mommy and Daddy do not really appreciate snow or cold weather having grown up in the frosty tundra that is Northern Minnesota. Myself having only seen snow twice in my three and a half years would like to see more.

My first snow experience at 7 months. I do not remember it at all.

Surely, I can get one snow day this year. I have it all planned out. The Big Guy!

Well I went to see the big guy himself--yup Santa!

It was going to be exciting, and I have been talking about it for weeks.

Grandpa and Grandma even gave me a new Berenstain Bears book about Santa,

so I could read up on what to expect.

Once I got there, however, the nerves set in.

I was expecting a long line, you know some time to build up my courage.

There was no line at all Peeps! No line at all!!!!

I played shy (didn't want the big guy to think I was shunning him) and whispered to Santa what I wanted.

Thankfully, Mommy was kind enough to tell Santa what I wanted, so he could hear, and then I sat on a fancy, sparkly box in front of Santa for a quick picture. Then it was over.

Well, I guess we'll see if next year is the year. Here's the pic-pretty cute if I do say so!

Trimming the Tree 2010

What up Peeps? The countdown to Santa--er I mean Christmas is on!

We've been busy at our Casa (that's house for those of you who don't speak Spanish).

Mommy made this "Holder of the Boxes"-which she calls an Advent Calendar.

All I know is that little gem has boxes and I get to open one everyday after dinner.

There have been some really awesome surprises (more on that to come).

What I'm here to talk about today, is our annual Trimming of the Tree. Man that was exciting (for about 20 minutes-what do you mean we have to hang ALL these ornaments, I just want to hang my ornaments, and all of them, on these 5 branches. Alright, alright, I'll move them-Geez!). It was a family affair with Mommy, Daddy and I hanging all our beloved ornaments, and Mommy and Daddy telling me the stories behind some of them (it was ALL 150 of them!). Good times were had by all!

I kid, I kid-it was fun (got to stay on Santa's nice list!).

In July, my Grandma Peg had a dream come true when she finally got to meet her pen pal of over 30 years. Dawn and Grandma have been pen pals since before my Mommy was born. Dawn and her hubby Bruce came over to visit the United States and Canada. Grandma and Grandpa had a lot of fun with them. Unfortunately, they didn't get to meet ME, or Mommy and Daddy in person, but they did bring this awesome t-shirt for me. Grandma gave it to me when we went to see Auntie Tawnda's new babies. Thanks Dawn and Bruce, I LOVE it!

While my main goal in scrapbooking is to preserve my memories, it is always nice to be recognized by my peers. I made these two layouts to document the purchase of our first home. This page was for a challenge, but I had gotten the kit
awhile ago and it worked perfectly for this pic.

This page was for fun! As it seems to be almost impossible

to get a picture of two preschooler's and their grandparents,

where everyone is looking at the camera, I had to use the

magic of Photoshop to "create" the perfect pic.

I think that it turned out pretty good.

I won't tell you "who or whom" I fixed, though!

This page was also for a challenge, and I figured I better

scrap last years Summer Reading page before I did this years!

This page was also a challenge, but I had been looking for the

perfect kit to do the page for awhile. I finally found the kit

and killed two birds with one stone, so to speak. I have

another page started to match this one, but am trying to

figure out the journaling and photo placement.

Happy 3rd Birthday To Me!!!

So last month I turned the big 0-3. That's right folks, I am officially a three year old. Life as a three year old is pretty sweet, but really hasn't changed a whole lot from life as a two year old. Anyways, back to me turning three. Well I decided that I wanted to have a Disney Cars themed birthday--would you have guessed anything else? Mommy went to work planning and it was decided that we have the party here at our house, in the back yard. Mommy also wanted to have the party before this guy's nap--so the time was set from 1pm to 3 pm. Mommy bought an extra large canopy to go with our pop-up canopy, to provide shade to our guests, lots of drinks and ice pops and snacks. She also worked really hard on the computer making some Cars themed decorations. She did a fabulous job, if I do say so myself.

So the big day came. I awoke to birthday wishes from Mommy and Daddy, and they even let me open some birthday presents from them. I couldn't believe it, but they had gotten me the one thing I'd been asking for, the Rescue Squad Mater and Ambulance play set. As a bonus surprise they also got the "burnt" Lightning for me to rescue. Super sweet. After that Mommy and Daddy had to head outside to put up the canopies, that's when they knew the day was NOT going to be pleasant for an outdoor birthday party. It was already HOT, HOT, HOT! They got the canopies up and then it was run, run, run--trying to get everything set up before the party started. They cut it close, with our first guests arriving before they were finished, but then we "got the party started". Mommy had come up with a pretty cool craft, and although I just wanted to play with the cars instead, I let her use them. She bought 4 cars, one each in red, blue, yellow and green colors. Then she put the cars in their corresponding paint colors and me and my friends "drove" all over the paper. We also put on Cars tattoos. After playing in the yard, on the swings, and in the sandbox, me and my friends were ready for something cool. We had some ice pops, but that just didn't cool us down, so Mommy decided to bring the party inside. We had cake, opened presents and did the pinata, all in the sweet, sweet coolness of the house. After everyone left I took a much needed nap. When I woke up Mommy and Daddy surprised me with a few more gifts. The best one-- a COMPUTER. It is pretty rockin'. Overall I had a GREAT birthday, but Mommy and Daddy say NEVER AGAIN. They of course don't mean my birthday, just not an outdoor party. Texas is just TOO hot for an outdoor party. Also Mommy says she will never have my party on my birthday either, she felt like Daddy and her were shunning me to get ready. They were, but it was okay.

Hiya folks! It's been awhile since my last update. Sorry, I've been really busy! Going to MN, having lots of fun and oh yeah--turning THREE! Since there is soooooo much stuff to talk about, I am going to cheat a little and use some of the scrapbook pages Mommy has done to help me along.

It was a LONG drive from Texas to Minnesota and back again.

Just from our house to my Auntie Tawnda's was over 1000 miles.

I was a good boy for the drive up and the drive back.

Don't believe me? Just ask Mommy.

Yeah, that crazy woman made the whole trip with just me as her traveling buddy.

Other than some scary weather (think tornado's people), the trip went very smoothly.

Oh, but were Mommy and I glad to get out of the car.

We stayed almost 2 weeks and had a lot of fun.

One of the best parts of hanging out in Minnesota is spending time with family. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I was born into a pretty large family and we did not get to see everyone. This here is me and my cousin Evie. Evie's world is about to be rocked in a couple months when my Auntie has triplets. Yeah, you read right. I will have two boy cousins and a new girl cousin. I told Mommy and Daddy that I am ready to have my own brother or sister, but nothing yet. That's okay, Mommy and I (maybe Daddy too) are going to make another trip up to Minnesota to meet the new babies. Maybe seeing those cute new babies will convince Mommy to have me a brother or sister. We'll see!

To be honest the shower was not really my thing,
I mean there wasn't even any water involved.

Thankfully my Great Auntie Vel was there to keep me occupied.

Here we are shooting some pool.

I also got to go over to my Grandma Jan's house.

It is now tradition that me and my cousin Kailey draw all over

grandma's fridge with dry erase markers.

It's like her very own personalized art work from her two favorite grandkids.

This time was some of my finest work.

While at Grandma Jan's I got to play outside with some toys

that my daddy played with when he was a kid. It was lots of fun!

As per the LAW and for other obvious reasons,

Grandpa went out and found the smallest helmet he could find,

so Evie and I could ride on his 4-Wheeler.

The helmet, while making me look cool, was not all that fun.

However, better SAFE than sorry!

The ride itself was a lot of fun!

I wanted to drive, but Grandpa said I wasn't old enough yet.

Maybe next time.

Since my Minnesota family wouldn't be able to come to Texas for my birthday,

they through me a little birthday party. Grandma and Auntie Tawnda went out

and got me an ice cream birthday cake. Since we had gone fishing that day, they

thought I should have a fish on my cake. That fish sure tasted yummy!

Mommy, Auntie Tawnda, Evie and I also headed over to my to visit

with my Great Grandma and Grandpa. We had a lot of fun and

I think Great Grandma and Great Grandpa had fun too.

She said something about using her Photoshop to "make"

one that is perfect. We'll see!

Apparently Grandpa snuck this bad boy into the car.

It also made the long trip back to Texas and I had

Daddy put it together as soon as we got home.

He is a lot of fun to ride.

As Mommy becomes more and more skilled at using

Photoshop and digital scrapbooking, she has revisited a

few of her earlier pages to add shadows and such.

This page is one she completely redid, keeping the concept,

but changing the papers and such. She now LOVES this

page instead of just liking it! I agree!

Once we got back to Texas, Mommy was on a mission to

finish up the planning of my 3rd Birthday Party.

There was still a lot of work to be done.

I'll be talking about that joyous occasion in another post.

Landry's birthday party was Rock Star themed.

We had a lot of fun making musical instruments,

playing and of course eating yummy birthday cake!
